Terms of Use

Read these before you buy. Buying a report means you accept them.

What you’re buying

A written valuation report on your business, prepared from the financial documents you upload and the answers you give during intake. The report estimates what your business might sell for, explains how the estimate was reached, and scores your business against the Six Systems value drivers.

We deliver it as a PDF, by email, within five business days of receiving your complete documents. The clock starts when we have everything we need, not when you pay. If your documents are incomplete we’ll tell you what’s missing.

What you’re not buying

Say this plainly, because it matters more than anything else on this page.

The report is an estimate, not an appraisal. It’s not a certified or accredited business appraisal. It’s not prepared to any appraisal standard, and it isn’t signed by a credentialed appraiser.

Don’t use it where an appraisal is required. Not for tax filings, not for a court proceeding, not for a divorce, not for estate or gift reporting, not for a lender, not for a buy-sell agreement, and not for any regulatory purpose. If someone has asked you for a valuation for one of those, you need a formal appraisal and we’ll tell you so.

The report is not legal, tax, accounting or investment advice. It’s an informed estimate of market value based on what you gave us.

Buying a report does not make us your lawyer. No attorney-client relationship is created by purchasing a report, uploading documents, or receiving the report. Nothing you send us in connection with a report is privileged or confidential in the way client communications are. If you want us to act as your lawyer, that starts with a signed engagement agreement and not before.

No guarantee about price. A business sells for what a buyer pays. Our estimate is not a promise, a prediction, or a commitment that any buyer will offer that figure or any figure.

The estimate is only as good as what you give us

We work from your documents. We do not audit them, verify them, or independently confirm anything in them.

If the numbers you upload are wrong, incomplete, or inconsistent, the estimate will be wrong too. Every report carries a confidence rating that tells you how well your own records agreed with each other. A low rating means exactly what it says: we couldn’t reconcile your books to your returns, and the range should be treated with caution.

What you promise us

By uploading documents you confirm that you own the business or are authorized to act for it, and that you have the right to give us the documents you’re giving us.

Don’t upload anyone else’s financial records.

Your documents

We hold your uploaded financial documents in the firm’s own systems, delete them within 90 days after delivering your report, and delete them sooner if you ask. The Privacy Policy sets out the detail.

We’ll keep the report itself and a short summary record of the engagement.

Payment and refunds

Reports cost $499, payable in advance. Work begins when payment clears and your documents arrive.

  • Ask for a refund before we start work and you get all of it back, no questions.
  • Once we’ve delivered the report, no refund. You’ve received the thing you bought.
  • If we can’t produce a usable report from what you upload, and you can’t supply what’s missing, we refund in full.

Limits on what we owe you

If something goes wrong with a report, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us for it.

We’re not liable for indirect or consequential losses. That includes a sale that didn’t happen, a price you didn’t get, a deal you turned down, or a decision you made after reading the report.

You’re buying an estimate for $499. Price the decision accordingly, and get a formal appraisal before you do anything that turns on the number being exact.

What we can’t accept

Don’t use the Toolkit to submit fraudulent documents, to obtain a valuation of a business you have no connection to, or for any unlawful purpose. We can refuse or cancel an order, and refund it, at our discretion.

Confidentiality

We treat your financial documents as confidential and we don’t share them. Understand what that does and doesn’t mean: it’s a business confidentiality commitment, not attorney-client privilege, because no attorney-client relationship exists.

Our material

The report, the Six Systems framework and the material on this site belong to us. Use your report for your own purposes freely. Don’t republish it, resell it, or present it as an independent appraisal.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version in force is the one published when you bought your report.

Governing law

Texas law governs these terms. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts sitting in Bexar County, Texas, and you agree to that venue.
